Stuff after the jump, have a crazy 911.

Kinja'd!!!

So my regular supervisor quit, and her boss has been filling in for her until there is a replacement, and her boss is a bit quick to make decisions to say the least.

So he pulls up to where I’m working and asks me and the other guy I’m with

New Super: “You guys know that we take public cars here, right? Not just restaurant cars.”

Me: “Yeah, why?”

NS: “Well I just talked to someone at “X restaurant” who said that someone was turning away cars because they weren’t going to “X restaurant.” Wait, you were at “X restaurant” last night, right?”

Me: “Yeah, why?”

NS: “Did X person ever turn away cars?”

Me: “Yeah, he’s done it at “other restaurant” too.”

NS: “Well I’ve decided to fire him because of it.”

Me: “Oh... Okay”

At this point he just gets in his car and drives off, I know I wasnt the first person to say something since he knew the person by name, and his insistence on avoiding cars was annoying at times, but still cant help but feel partially responsible for someone getting fired.

You were approached by your boss; you isn’t seek him out and throw a coworker under the bus. You’re okay.

Your boss already knew about it and you didn’t actively look to get that guy fired. Not your fault. Also, sounds like he was affecting everyone’s paycheck by being lazy and not doing his job. He either needed to be fired or “written up”and the problem corrected somehow. Don’t stress out.

Hard not to feel a little shitty in that situation but you didn’t do anything wrong.

You just confirmed what he already knew... if you had covered for him, you’d have been put in the same group of employee as that slacker.

I was in a similar boat a couple months ago. a co-worker was skipping out early. Its one thing if its an emergency, but this was every day for @3 weeks. as renescent said below you would have been in the same shithole as him.
